The church sets a high priority with regard to its work with young people. They are the church of the here and now as well as the church of the future and we greatly value what they have to offer us. Their vibrant life breathes the life of the spirit into our church. On most Sundays children join the congregation for the first part of the service which we aim to focus on their needs. They are then most welcome to join the creche or SMC Kids.

Creche

Creche facilities are available on a Sunday morning during the service for children aged from a few months to three years. There is a weekly rota of people responsible and it is used every Sunday by our 'tots'.

SMC Kidz

SMC Kidz also meets on a Sunday morning and covers a wide age range. They join the church for the first part of the service and depart to their own space after the second hymn. There is a Family Service every month for which they plan and prepare, their contribution is highly valued. Recent events have included the designing and making of a set and characters to produce a puppet show of the feeding of the five thousand. This was then videoed and set to music before being shown in a Family Service. Another example was the making of the 'armour of God' with one of the members being dressed up in the service.  Helen Smyly is our SMC Kidz leader.

The RE Team

We have a team of 16 people who work with local schools to promote a better understanding of the Christian Faith. Two are trained story tellers, all are DBS checked, as safeguarding children is a prime concern.

We deliver RE lessons in school to year 4 children, all these lessons are based on the requirements of the RE syllabus which is agreed both nationally and locally. It is a requirement of schools to teach RE and to follow this curriculum.

The children also come to church for a 'Godly Play' session which includes a Godly Play story, a chance to engage in craft based activities and finally the 'feast', a chance to enjoy a drink and a biscuit.

These sessions take place every half term.

Sprotbrough Park Playtime

This is for pre-school children who are accompanied by their parents, grandparents or carers and meets every Wednesday morning from 9-30 to 11-00 and Playtime Plus meets on Thursday Morning from 9-30 to 11-00. The children have plenty of opportunity for small play activity along with crafts, followed by story time with refreshments then outside play on larger pay equipment e.g.pedal cars and the session concludes with a time of singing.

There is NO CHARGE and all the volunteers from the church give their time freely. There are refreshments:- coffee, tea, biscuits and freshly baked cake for the adults with an opportunity to donate towards this cost. The whole venture is funded by the church who are grateful for the grant they received from the former playgroup. Both meetings are limited to 30 children and are so popular you must register, there is currently a waiting list for both sessions. To register visit the Playtime Facebook page.
